Larry Kelly)
PRISCILLA---Hi Sally. Are you ready
for Sunday school?
SALLY---I
guess so. Do you know what we’re doing today?
PRISCILLA---
No, but I know it’ll be interesting.
SALLY---
Did you hear about Spike Jones?
PRISCILLA---
No, what did he do now?
LARRY
KELLY--- Hi girls are you ready for our lesson today?
SALLY--- I’ll tell you later.
SALLY
& PRISCILLA--- Yes, Mr. Kelly.
LARRY
KELLY--- Today we are going to talk about some of the miracles Jesus did while
he was here on earth.
PRISCILLA---What
is a miracle?
LARRY
KELLY---A miracle is something that happens that doesn't happen all the time
and is unexpected.
SALLY---Oh, like me cleaning up my room without Mom telling me to?
LARRY
KELLY (laughing) No not like that. I am going to tell you a story and then
maybe you will understand.
BOTH---We
like stories.
LARRY
KELLY---While Jesus was here on earth he healed a lot of people. Some were
blind, some were deaf, and some couldn't walk. One day while Jesus was surrounded
by a big crowd on the way to help someone, a woman who had been sick for a very
long time came to see Jesus. She knew if she could just get close enough to
touch his robe, she would be healed.
SALLY--- Now how did she know that, Mr. Kelly?
LARRY
KELLY--- She believed it in her heart. Now, there were so many people there she
didn't know if she would be able to get close enough to him. She was very weak
and sick. But somehow she was able to get close enough to touch the bottom of
his robe. When she did this, Jesus felt it and said "Who touched
me?"
PRISCILLA—Excuse
me, Mr. Kelly, if there were so many people around Jesus, how could He feel if
she touched the bottom of His robe?
LARRY
KELLY--- Good question Priscilla. It scared her when Jesus asked “who touched
me”. Even His disciples didn’t understand. But you see, Jesus felt healing
power go out from Him and that’s why He asked “Who touched me”. "I did,
master" she said. He looked at her lovingly and said, "You are healed
because of your belief. The woman got up and thanked Jesus. She praised him and
jumped up and down for joy.
BOTH
GIRLS--- Wow!
LARRY
KELLY--- Now girls, that is, what a miracle is.
SALLY---Mr. Kelly things like that don't happen anymore, do they since Jesus is
in heaven now?
LARRY
KELLY---Well Sally they do, but not by Jesus touching people in person. But if we
pray and believe, sometimes they do get healed.
SALLY--- I think I understand what a miracle is.
PRISCILLA--
Sally you don't really think it’s a miracle if you clean your room without
being asked, do you?
SALLY----No, not really. But maybe mom might.
PRISCILLA---
Tomorrow, I’m going to surprise my mom before she comes home and clean the
whole house!
SALLY--- Why would you want to do that?
PRISCILLA---
I think it would be fun to surprise her. Don’t you?
(Sally
looks out with a blank stare)
